Homeward Bound

I'm heading home after work today for the hometown summer celebration called My Waterloo Days and to spend some time with the family- it's been a while so I'm jonesing for home & looking forward to the festivities tonight. A fave band of ours called Hello Dave are playing tonight and I can't wait to listen to them! My hubby & I and a group of college friends discovered them probably 6ish years ago in Iowa City and they bring back so many great college memories. Their music is literally the kind you NEVER get sick of and can listen to- on repeat- for days. We enjoyed quite a bit of it while camping last weekend- perfect music to listen to while enjoying a few beers around the campfire- check them out, they're from Chicago and play quite a bit around the Midwest. Peace out friends.

PUNCHED!

Yesterday I got punched in the nose. Ok not exactly literally like you are thinking...but sort of. I went to the dermatologist and got a 'punch biopsy' of a suspicious mole right on the upper middle part of my nose. I left her office looking like a got a nose job- straight out of L.A. -big old white bandage and all.

It was my 2nd time to the dermatologist recently and probably my 15th Dr. visit this year. It has been quite medical fiasco of a year for me so far- nothing like meeting that deductible by February! I've been taking charge of my own health for a while now (because if you don't who the f* is going to?) or maybe I'm a little bit of a hypochondriac but sometimes I think better be that than the opposite. So now I've been punched and my nose is a little sore but I am resting easier knowing I've taken care of the threat of skin cancer at least for now. Oh yeah, and if you haven't been to a dermatologist for your annual skin check- make an appointment- NOW! Seriously, why wouldn't you?

Food=Obsession, in a good way!

There is something you should know about me. I think we should get this out in the open right away. Here it is: I am pretty much obsessed with FoodNetwork and all things cooking & food related. I seriously, seriously, LOVE food. And cooking. And eating most of all. I totally think I'm friends with all the chefs on Food Network and that we should hang out and maybe that I should have my own show someday (ok kind of kidding but maybe not!) Giada De Laurentiis is my absolute fave and is always an ispiration but I do also need to give some credit to Rachael Rae because she is just so darn practical in her cooking (tho sometime a lil on the annoying/repetitive side) and I do think because of her I feel so comfortable trying new things in the kitchen. So needless to say, if you are reading this blog you will eventually be seeing lots of recipes and probably some pics of things I've cooked. I will also tell you that you need to check out my sister's blog which is completely devoted to healthy cooking & living along with interesting health-related news. My sister is my BFF and even though we aren't twins we totally think alike, talk alike, some people say look-alike (even we don't think so) and our dream is to someday find the perfect business idea that would allow us to work together being creative.

So that is that for now- you know a little more about me now. Much more to come!

A Matter of Time

It was a matter of time until I joined the ranks of you whom call yourself bloggers.

Welcome, me!

I started my own blog for selfish reasons alone (for that matter whose blog isn't completely self-centered in some way or another?) Anywho- the first reason being that I have a job in which I am online from 8-5 and, yes, I’m that girl who instantly sees I’ve got an email and responds within 2-3 minutes. I’m THAT bored. So I needed a hobby in which to feel at least semi-productive & semi-creative. Secondly, at the very least, I hope my blog turns out to be a place in which I can type-vomit the things which crowd my thoughts- because sometime they just.need.out!
